Ready or Not, here I come….
No need to hide inside. Winter is just another season to get ready for. So, keep reading to beat the winter blues.
Are you aware that December 19th is the first day of Winter on this side of the world? Yep, it has found us and in some regions of the world it comes in with snow, rain, and sleet and in other places, it is cloudy, gloomy, and oh so cold.
Are you getting cold yet?
Although this is happening in some parts of the US, in other parts of the US during the winter season, it is still warm, with a cool breeze and the sun is shining oh so bright….I like that. So really… the winter season has a wide range of weather patterns and that just depends on where you are in the world. Joy Chaser, where are you during this season? Wherever you are, I ask that you Beat the Winter Blues because it is a real thing.
How Do You Know That? I’m Glad You Asked.
So Think About It
The sky is gray, the clouds are low, the sun is barely shining… Baby, it’s cold outside, and you may be experiencing a snowy, rigid winter.
Do you want to Beat the Winter Blues?
Do you think it is a minor mindset? Well, it is. All it takes is you being ready to make the change and take on a different mindset? Truly speaking, this can be a hard thing to do. In Fact, your mood of the day, hour, or minute (lol) will tell the story as to whether you will be ready for the mindset change.
Don’t Make It Difficult
I can get in a mood that can make me sad, mad, and glad all at the same time, lol. Blame it on the weather, blame it on the neighbors, or blame it on whatever. It does not matter because when you have the winter blues, it’s harder to come out of it. It becomes contagious around the people you interact with and everybody is in a bad mood. Is that fair to others?
Hell no, so before you get yourself into this stupor, here are some tested ways to help you conquer the winter blues. In other words, beat the winter blues.
Tip #1
Left, left, left, right, left, lol. You get my drift, right?
“Get Me Bodied” song by Beyonce will get you moving right. Hey, Hey, Heeeeyyy, a little sweat ain’t hurt nobody.
Left, right, now shake it , shake it,
Left, right, now move those hips and arms.
Are You Moving?
Whew chile, I am with it. As Beyonce says, drop to the floor with it. You can do it. It’s the old school way. If you are a “younger” reader you may not know anything about that old school dancing where we just went with the rhythm and vibe of the music and we danced and moved to the next morning. Oops momma if you are reading this, those were the college years, lol.
Get Your Body Moving, I Say!
The song ”Get Me Bodied” is definitely a song that will get you moving, smiling, and out of breath by the time the song ends especially if you listen to the extended version of the song. I do have a confession though, I am not a person that loves to move every day for exercise and that is because I just don’t put it on my schedule (not a self motivator). However, I will be on the journey with you to get my body moving more because I do love to dance.
Tip #2
As I listen to people in conversation, do you know that most people do not have a hobby. You might be saying , yeah I do… But do you really?
A hobby is something you love to do and even if you are tired, you are going to put some time into it. A hobby is not talking on the phone to a friend. It is not something you tried one time and now it’s in the back of the closet with the rest of the so called hobbies, lol. And a hobby is not binging on the series that you found on HBO or Netflix.
Here are some types of hobbies.
- Playing a musical instrument
- Gardening (weeds, here I come)
- Coloring
- Writing (want to be a guest writer, let me know)
- Building something
- Baking, Cooking, Experimenting in the kitchen
- And the list can go on
Find yourself a hobby and keep your mind occupied with things you enjoy.
Hobbies are not about your job or career, the duties at home, or the little tasks that keep you busy. When developing a love for a hobby you have to nurture it. A hobby keeps your mind busy with something you love. As my momma says….. “An idle mind is the devil’s workshop.” So develop a love for something. Don’t slip on this. You are trying to beat the Winter blues.
PS… If you have time to scroll tiktok, instagram, and other social media outlets, you have time for a hobby. Spending countless hours on nonsense can have your brain in overload.
Tip #3
Simple, am I right? Hell no! We are busy all the time. Well at least we can look busy.
We control our busyness with more busyness, therefore, we are sending ourselves into……..The Winter Blues. Brace yourself, Is your conscious speaking to you? Hmmmm, now what for it… Told you….. TaDa… you are already saying it. “I’m busy, I can’t help it.”
Stop saying that.
Calm yourself and never be too busy. You may miss out on the one thing you were dreaming about. Make time for you in your busy time.
Now What…Will you beat the Winter Blues?
As stated previously, it’s simple! Do you and put yourself to work with whatever that may be or start with the three tips I aforementioned. Don’t get stuck!
