Did you know?
Did you know that a person drinks coffee on average of three or more cups a day. Whoaa, that’s a lot. Did you also know that the average American spends up to $2-$5 for a cup of coffee? This average price does not include the specialty coffees we like so much. Humans like coffee and they like it a lot regardless of the price. But have you ever thought about taking coffee drinking to another level? How about having a cozy coffee shop experience? What I mean by this is for you to “slow down and smell the roses.” Well, instead of saying that, say instead “slow down and smell the coffee.” It is truly an experience if you just slow down.
Not Your Average Joe
I consider my husband (not me) as a coffee connoisseur. He loves coffee, he researches the brand he will buy. He is not your average Joe (no pun intended) when it comes to slowing down and choosing the right coffee that will have his taste buds saying oh my. If he is reading this, he is probably giving me the side-eye so hard for telling his business, lol. But for real, he loves coffee so much that it is an experience he goes through from picking the right coffee beans, to the grinder he will use, to even the coffee machine it will go through. I am for real, we have gone through so many expensive coffee machines that I just don’t do anything but shake my head when another coffee machine is being bought because the old one has run its course or it just was not right. My husband sometimes reminds me of the story of Goldilocks. The porridge was too hot, too cold, and then finally just right. That’s him, still searching every six months or so for the right coffee brewed through the right coffee machine.
Something to Think About
Are you like my husband when it comes to the experience of drinking a cup of coffee? Or can I say that when you drink a cup of coffee you are drinking it for the caffeine high or is it truly a soothing type of drink for you? If a cup of coffee is something that soothes your soul when you smell and drink it. Try finding a cozy coffee shop near you. Don’t just speed to the nearest StarBucks, McDonalds, or Dunkin Donuts. Embrace the small, cozy coffee shops in your neighborhood.
Make the Time
I know you are saying or maybe even shouting that you don’t have time. But that is the problem, my people. No one makes the time to do anything anymore. All you hear in your ear is conversations that are repeating the same story of being tired, stressed, and depressed. You are a JoyChaser, right? Your mindset has to be different when you are chasing joy. It’s all about the internal feeling of happiness to the soul. You can be outwardly stressing out and pretending inwardly that you are chasing joy. As I am visualizing this, I can say those two pictures don’t go together, lol. They are truly a win/lose situation. But we are all (including me) guilty of this. Just get yourself back on track and start again.
History at Its Finest
So let’s get back to the topic at hand. The first coffee house was opened in 1676 in Boston Massachusetts. A coffee house during these times was where people would come, converse, and plan. It is said that the Boston Tea Party was planned in a Boston Coffee House, how ironic. Coffee shops are known today for their vibe and casual meeting places to sit alone, with friends, with a significant other, or even have a meeting that can change the world as we know it. So slow down my people and embrace the experience. You never know what you may discover, write, see, or change as you are sipping coffee in a cozy coffee shop.
The Cozy Coffee Shop Experience
I want you as a joychaser to have a cozy shop experience. Chasing Joy is finding pleasure in the simple things in life. Sitting in a cozy coffee shop should be an experience. However, I want you to know that finding pleasure in a coffee shop is not on your way to your fast paced job. You are probably just getting that coffee to wake you up just to make it through the day, lol (so true).
But if you want to have a joychaser experience, take one weekend, search the internet in your area, find a cozy place to go by yourself or with another, check out the local reviews because it matters, and drive, walk, or ride a bike to this cozy coffee shop. Walk in, breathe in the aroma of the coffee being brewed and then take a seat by the window. Pause….. Listen to the sound of the coffee machine. Listen to the people talking, laughing, and ordering a cup of joe. Don’t forget to order yours.
This is the time y’all to pour your heart out internally (Talk to yourself, but don’t answer back). Smile outwardly and sip that cup of coffee. How does it taste? Hmmm so good. How do you feel? Hmmm, so relaxed. Can you see yourself spending hours in this local coffee shop taking it all in.
Taking in the positive life experiences you have had.
Being proud that you made the first, second, or third choice to chase after joy.
And finally focusing on your inner thoughts of being good to yourself.
Whoa, I was immersed. I can see this happening to you and to me as I write every word on this paper. Now if you like what you’re reading, then make it happen for yourself.
The JoyChaser Immersion
Coffee shops are popular. Many people are usually in and out of coffee shops and not having that true immersion of what a coffee shop can do for you mentally. But don’t let that be your experience. Let a cozy coffee shop be another way you are chasing after joy. There are many Around the US Coffee Shops that are so called famous ones, but a simple mom or pop in your neighborhood or downtown could do it for you. There are so many things you can do as you sip your coffee and I do mean sip. But anyway, journal, listen to relaxing music with your headphones on, people watch, converse with a stranger or the person you brought with you, or just simply sit, dream, and joychase. Until next time……BGTY. Be Good to Yourself.
